As the brand return once again, they have debuted a first look of the initial chapter in the Stone Island Shadow Project Autumn Winter 2021 collection. The Shadow Project is a distinctive collection from the Italian label which adopts some of the most advanced manufacturing techniques, alongside utilising their most high-tech fabrics. Each collection takes an unusual approach to design, with inspiration coming from the real world, behavioural patterns and social constructs. Being one of the most developed collections on the current menswear market, Stone Island Shadow Project drops are always highly anticipated.
Generally, the Stone Island Shadow Project focuses on experimenting with fashion and pushing the boundaries of futuristic menswear. In a recent interview, Carlo Rivetti claimed it to be Stone Island’s very own Formula 1. As the brand has evolved, the Shadow Project developed innovations such as the reverse colour process, which is a fading technique, followed by an overdyeing process over the whole garment, creating shaded print effects and residual colour deposits which are individual to each garment. The care taken during the design and manufacture process of Stone Island Shadow Project makes every piece within the collections a sure investment, and one to make you stand out from the crowd. The timeless style from Stone Island Shadow Project is undeniable and one which will reign supreme from years to come within the industry.
For their newest drop, the main palette features warmer tones, including off-white, red and burnt orange, with minimal hints of cool blues, pattern and print throughout – resembling the essence of autumn through colour and texture. The newest collection is split into two chapters, to resemble the transition between each season; potentially indicating that the second chapter of the Autumn/Winter drop could feature a heavier approach on the cooler tones.
The brand are emphasizing their classic aesthetic within the range with the use of oversized pockets and chunky zips, giving it that utilitarian yet practical edge. Overall, the collection includes key pieces like chunky mens jackets, overshirts, coats and lighter layers including oversized sweatshirts. Of course, each pieces comes with unique Stone Island branding, often with the classic Stone Island badge featuring on the left arm, which is usually blacked out to reflect the Shadow Project range.
