Italian cult brand Stone Island has a huge following, and the brand launched back in 1983 with the idea of creating a military worker silhouette and taking inspiration from traditional work wear. The Stone Island Shadow Project was introduced in 2008 and begun as a collaboration between Stone Island director Carlo Riverri and the design team behind ACRONYM. The Shadow Project developed into a program for a new generation of urban masculine menswear. Whilst it still uses the same high-tech fabrics as Stone Island, it also takes the innovative design that ACRONYM is known for. The collection shows the experimentation of the brand which digital printing techniques and how that can be portrayed onto lightweight pieces. The project was called ‘Shadow’ to explain the close relationship between this exclusive brand and the original Stone Island brand. The Stone Island Shadow Project explores a new and modern take on urban menswear with an updated colour palette, subtle branding and accent details.
