Tom Sachs’ “Boring” Nikecraft General Purpose Shoe Returns With Three New Colourways

The word “boring” is rarely used to describe a pair of kicks, but when it is, it’s hard to imagine the creator behind the trainers would be too pleased about the description of their design but that’s not the case for Tom Sachs who embraces his self-confessed “boring” shoes.

Remember Tom Sachs’ collaborative trainers with Nike, the Nikecraft General Purpose shoes that released 10 June? Many within the community didn’t hold back in proclaiming these trainers as very aesthetically boring and Sachs completely agreed.

It’s not a common occurrence to see a designer agree with some of the harshest critics they must of faced but Sachs agreed so much that he even promoted the Tom Sachs’ x Nikecraft General Purpose shoes as boring.

These boring Nike kicks which probably fit nicely into the category of “Dad shoes” are making a comeback with three new colourways, and as we all know – your trainer rotation will never not benefit from a new colourway.

The new trio features tones of mostly white and grey. One pair is designed with a grey upper, a white Swoosh and orange pull tab. The other two consist of similar cream uppers with white midsoles, however one features a black Swoosh and a red pull tab, while the other has a red Swoosh and orange pull tab.

Compared to the original pair which featured an off-white upper and blue pull tab, the new trio have an attractive vintage feel to them but there’s no denying that these new colourways are also a bit dull like the pair before it (which was expected from Tom Sachs).

A lot of people felt that the the original Tom Sachs x Nikecraft General Purpose shoes should have been a general release or priced slightly lower to compliment the similar energy that was put into the marketing campaign for the “boring” kicks.

The original Nikecraft General Purpose shoes were priced at £90 – £100 but we’re still waiting on the pricing and further details of the new colourways to be announced by Nike.

Other details of the new trio such as the release date is also a mystery, but we expect these three new additions to the minimalistic Nikecraft General Purpose Shoes to release sometime this year from Nike.
