With no shortage of drops this year so far, Stone Island are back again with another offering for Spring/Summer 2022. This time it comes in the form of heat-reactive pieces.
Stone Island have made many heat reactive pieces in the past. It’s not hard to imagine why these pieces are popular – the thought of a garment changing colour in response to its environment is quite intriguing to say the least.
The new releases feature two hooded jackets, both designed using ultra-light nylon fabric and an outer thermo-sensitive polyurethane film that changes colour according to the temperature.
Both jackets, one in orange and one in blue, can be seen just below.
When the temperature rises, the micro-encapsulated colour pigment molecules embedded in the fabric gradually dim their colour, then returning to its original colour when the temperature rises.
The transition of yellow to orange, and from light blue to bluette is very captivating.
These new heat sensitive jackets will definitely be a popular choice this Spring/Summer.
