Embodying durability and thermal stability, Stone Island have finally unveiled the sixth edition of their Prototype Research_Series and their new outwear garment is one to survive any conditions.
Last week we knew that Stone Island had teamed up with Kevlar’s consumer research and development team for their newest Prototype Research_Series and we now have a much closer look at what they’ve been secretly designing.
Beginning in 2016, Stone Island‘s Prototype Research_Series is a very limited-edition collection of pieces made with experimental treatments and fabrications. These collections are typically limited to 100 units as they are not produced at an industrial level.
The Prototype Research_Series 06 was unveiled and currently on view at Mila Design Week from Tuesday June 7 – Sunday June 12.
Following Milan Design Week, we know that the Italian luxury brand has been working on a new outwear piece which embodies the durability and thermal stability of Kevlar®.
The consumer brand Kevlar® has been working closely with Series 06 to design a garment with double cotton yarn to create a new textured fabric. The newly engineered fabrics underwent a dévoré printing technique to break down the cotton yarn to reveal a unique yellow core.
To complete the unique garment is a resin treatment for texturization and a special PFC-free, water repellent finish.
Take a closer look at the limited edition garment just below.
Are you feeling Stone Island‘s 6th Prototype Research_Series? Do you think you could be lucky enough to cop yourself one of the 100 units made? Let us know, we’d love to hear what you think.
The garment will release on Stone Island’s webstore, although they have not confirmed any release date as of yet.
