Not only have they got the approval of French forward Kylian Mbappé, but the new Nike Air Zoom Mercurial’s feature a number of new innovations and designs to make themselves the new must have football boots of the year.
They feature a three-quarter length Zoom airbag that sits directly inside of the plate of the boot, bringing the foot closer to the ground for a greater energy return. The Zoom airbag also features flex grooves that provide flexibility and natural movement of the foot to better fit the needs of dynamic movement in football.

Another revolutionary feature of the Air Zoom Mercurial’s is the Vaporposite featured on the uppers, which is a new Nike design to provide optimal support of the foot in areas where footballers need it most.
Labeled Vaporposite+, the upper combines a grip-enhancing chevron mesh with a Flyknit lining that will help with ball control at high speeds.
If that wasn’t enough features for you, the debut of the new Tri-Star stud pattern sees Nike introduce a new design to help footballers move laterally as well as downhill for faster play in all directions.
PSG star Kylian Mbappé explained: “I’m always thinking about fast. I want to be faster than my opponent. What excited me most is that this technology is revolutionary. Air is what’s really going to put the Mercurial athletes in the best conditions to perform.”
In order to help themselves reach their 2025 impact targets, the vast majority of Nike’s 2022 Mercurial line up are made with a minimum of 20% recycled content by weight. Producing apparel and footwear with sustainable materials has become a more frequent occurrence at Nike.
The Air Zoom Mercurial will be officially released on Friday 1 July via the Nike webstore.
Priced at £250 and £235, the performance enhancing and speedy football boots are available as the Superfly 9 Elite FGs and Vapor 15 Elite FGs. Both come in the White/Coconut Milk/Bright Crimson colourway and can be found just below.
