At the start of December, Stone Island gave use a first look at the Spring/Summer 2022 collection. As we approach the new year, we are also approaching 40 years of Stone Island. And this new range celebrates the innovative technology that Stone Island has employed for 4 decades. Fans of the brand will also be happy to discover that its key silhouettes are still intact; streamlined sweatshirts, T-shirts, windbreakers, hoodies and jackets all form the bulk of the new collection, as they have for several seasons now.
Stone Island has thrown in a number of pieces from its archives to create the “82/22” capsule collection. It comprises of archival garments that have been reworked with new fabrics. Fabric innovation is what Stone Island is best known for, so it’s no surprise that there are plenty of technical materials to be found throughout the collection. Plus many of the new pieces are crafted from 3L GORE-TEX, a performance fabric made from recycled polyester that is durable, windproof and waterproof.
A stand out piece is the Three-In-One Anorak which has been crafted to have a relaxed fit, with a drawstring hood and oversized welt pockets. The GORE-TEX anorak is packable and lightweight, and it can easily transform into a padded vest with off-centre fastening. It then has the ability to morph into a detachable bag which comes with an adjustable neck strap.
