From selling his limited-edition collection of trainers to kickstart his pizza business to owning an enterprise that’s reportedly worth $10 million USD, enter Michele Civiera.

Michele had spent decades budling his beloved collection of trainers that included hard to find Nike SB Dunks and original Nike Air Jordans. His collection was sold and raised £10,000, but what to do with it?

The raised funds from the trainers were used to buy Michele’s first pizza oven and dough mixer. Less than 10 years later and his idea of a pizza empire is worth a thousand times more than his initial investment.

Only looking to continue expanding Michele explained to Joe.co.uk that: “Eventually, we’ll have venues in almost every student town and city across the UK, but our food truck is going to blaze a trail for us first…

“Everywhere I go, I see people wearing our T-shirts. We want to build a movement of people who have a great attitude, enjoy good times and good music, and love big, tasty slices of NY-style pizza.”

It’s not only pizza Civerinos specialises in, the company also focuses on a wide range of apparel and accessories such as the pink Civerinos beanie that even Justin Bieber has been spotted sporting.

“Civerinos” has established a reputation for itself in Edinburgh, even being named amongst the UK’s top ten pizzas. Civerinos latest venture includes a food truck, which plans to bring its signature slices to cities and venues across the UK.

The company already owns four sites in Edinburgh and are looking to open its first venue outside of Edinburgh, in Glasgow this September.

2022 saw an impressive turnover of £6 million while Civerinos is on target for £7 million this year and £10 million by the end of 2024.

Michele continues to explain: “There’s a gap in the market. There are loads of amazing pizza places, but our NY-style pizzas combined with our overall vibe and attitude brings something new to the table.

“It’s been a challenging time thanks to the pandemic, Brexit, the supply chain crisis, and everything else that’s been thrown at the hospitality industry, but now we’re stronger than ever. We’ve learned a lot and we’re ready to go.”

Civerinos now wants pizza fans from all over the UK to reach out to their Instagram of venues or events they’d like to see the Civerinos food truck make an appearance.

I know a lot of us cherish our favourite trainers and clothing collections, but maybe letting go of old possessions we’ve adorned for a while, isn’t always such a bad thing.
