As the Chelsea FC and England forward continues to expand his influence beyond football, Raheem Sterling has recently joined forces with London based filmmaker Carly Cussen, to introduce a new production agency named Playmaker Films.
Sterling has made a positive name for himself through the launch of various projects through his foundation that aims to drive social change and promote racial equality.
Alongside these initiatives, the established baller has also provided opportunities to students through university scholarships while launching his very own fashion brand, Sixteen Ninety Two.
Sterling’s latest undertaking is taking an “entertainment first” approach to producing music videos, advertising, and branded content – inspired by Sterling’s previous collaborative work with Cussen.
Speaking to VERSUS, Sterling explained what led him to his recent venture: “Part of the day job involves a lot of time on sets at video shoots for brands. Over time I was more and more interested in what was going on behind the camera.
“I’d worked with Carly on several projects, for brands like Gillette and Samsung, and I started to ask her questions about different aspects of the process. When it came to starting my own production company, she was the obvious choice.”
The Chelsea forward continued to explain that Playmaker Films has some very exciting projects in the works with different brands and talent. One of these projects is the “Back To School” campaign from Clarks, which was “a lot of fun to create and shoot.”
Are there any other Premier League footballers that have branched out as much as Sterling? From his exclusive New Balance 327 launch back in June and fronting one of Daniel Lee’s new Burberry campaigns, Raheem is definitely keeping busy this year.
