Since his appointment as artistic director of KENZO back in 2021, established Japanese designer NIGO, is yet to release a footwear silhouette designed by himself at the French fashion house – but that’s all about to change tomorrow at END.
The wait for a NIGO-designed silhouette at KENZO is over as the “KENZO-DOME” launches tomorrow from END. This collection draws its inspiration from the early mid-90s skateboarding culture and is even named after the famous DÔME skateboarding spot in Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
Raffles are currently live at END. for a chance to cop the KENZO-DOME collection that arrives in pink, white, black and beige hues. The uppers are crafted from a full suede construction, other than the white colourway that’s comprised of grained leather.
More details include a gum sole featured on each design, with the material extending through to the midsole on the beige and pink iterations. The collection is rounded off with a perforated toe box, chunky tongue tabs with extra padding and a “K” embroidery placed on the heels.
The skate inspiration behind NIGO’s KENZO-DOME collection is clear, however keen eyes online have pointed out some striking similarities to a skate classic, the Airwalk Pro silhouette by Jason Lee. Although, these similarities may simply be direct inspirations.
If you like the look of NIGO’s first shot at KENZO footwear, raffles are currently live at END. for the KENZO-DOME collection that’s priced at £265 each and launches Wednesday, 31 May at 12:00am.
