Liam Gallagher Teams Up with Stone Island: Oasis Fans Brace for Another Fashion Frenzy

 

How the world’s most famous parka-wearer joins forces with the iconic parka brand.

Liam Gallagher and Stone Island share a history as storied as any rock ‘n’ roll tale. According to his brother Noel, in a 2023 interview with BBC Sounds, Liam got his first Stone Island parka at the tender age of seven. Originally a brand steeped in football terrace culture, Stone Island has since transcended its roots, becoming synonymous with global style icons, thanks in no small part to Gallagher’s enduring influence.

Gallagher’s fashion legacy, however, extends far beyond Stone Island. In his younger years, he made headlines by crashing the Versace catwalk in 1996—a moment that cemented his place in fashion history. More recently, he collaborated with Adidas to release the LG2 SPZL X trainers, featuring a sleek white design with bottle green stripes. Gallagher even launched his own fashion label, Pretty Green, in 2009. The brand, which debuted just two months before Oasis’s first breakup, offered a range of clothing from polo shirts to coats. While it launched to much fanfare—crashing its website on opening day with 100,000 fans clamoring for items—the label’s popularity waned, eventually falling into administration in 2019 before being bought by JD Sports.

Britain’s Effortless Style Icon

From Drake to Jason Statham and even Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Stone Island’s “compass badge” has graced the wardrobes of the world’s elite. So, it makes perfect sense that the man behind “Champagne Supernova” would eventually become the face of the brand. Frankly, we’re surprised this collaboration didn’t happen sooner.

Unveiled as part of Stone Island’s ongoing “Community as a Form of Research” project, the campaign was shot by renowned British fashion photographer David Sims. Featuring not just Gallagher, but also other cultural icons like Peggy Gou, Russell Tovey, and skateboarder Sage Elsesser, the campaign presents each legend against a stark white backdrop, accompanied by a series of candid Q&As.

 

A Blast from the Archives

For his shoot, the Mancunian singer sported his signature mod haircut and wore Stone Island’s “Jock” jacket—a design that hails from the brand’s 1983/1984 archives. This anorak-style jacket, coated in PVC and featuring two oversized front pockets, is presented inside-out for a deconstructed look. Of course, the iconic compass badge proudly adorns the left sleeve.

This collaboration marks a significant moment in Gallagher’s relationship with Stone Island. Back in 2017, he famously had a stash of Stone Island jackets stolen during his Glastonbury performance. “To the cunt who stole my Stone Island parkas from my hotel room while I was playing Glastonbury,” he tweeted. “Hand them over, and all will be forgiven.” While he may have been momentarily robbed, as the new face of Stone Island, it’s safe to say that Gallagher’s wardrobe is now well-stocked.

The Gallagher fashion legacy continues with his 24-year-old son, Lennon, who recently made his own mark in the industry by starring in a Burberry campaign. As Oasis fans prepare to crash yet another server in search of Gallagher-endorsed fashion, one thing is clear: this collaboration is as iconic as the parka itself.

Oasis Mania Reignited

With the Oasis reunion fueling a resurgence in ’90s nostalgia, other brands are eager to capitalize. Levi’s has launched a collection of band T-shirts to celebrate 30 years of the band’s debut album, Definitely Maybe. Meanwhile, luxury streetwear brand Represent Clothing recently teased a collaboration T-shirt with the band. The past few months have even been dubbed “brat summer” by some, with fans already speculating that next July and August will be known as “Wonderwall summer.” While the key color to replace this year’s lime green remains a mystery, one thing is certain: if Noel has any say, it’ll be anything but beige
