NIGO continues to kill it at KENZO and the label’s latest capsule for its new Spring/Summer 2023 campaign focuses on qualities both NIGO and KENZO prioritise – “worldliness, inclusivity, and individuality.”
That isn’t all as the new unique campaign blends the worlds of being a sailor and the seaside with streetwear elements and collegiate themes.
The new campaign features skateboarder and musician Lil Dre, vocalist Nina Utashiro, plus models Moses Battiest, Ama Elsesser, Omar Sesay, Bomi Youn, Sunmoon Jung, and Lily McMenamy.
Of course the standout piece from the campaign is the navy and off white camp collar sailor shirt, decorated with plenty of KENZO badges and detailing.
A subtle hidden detail we suspect is that the decorated sailor shirt implies that the badges are awards for the sailors achievements and bravery at sea, which could possibly be a reference to everything NIGO has achieved at KENZO.
More from the new KENZO collection includes an interesting vest that’s also decorated with badges. Only this yellow piece is quite clearly meant to be a life jacket.
Streetwear elements are also applied to the badged sailor scarf hanging from the model’s jean pocket, while the women’s line gets a very similar sailors-at-sea treatment.
