The Hoxton Trend meets Bossman BirdieBy | January 19, 2018
Earlier this month we caught up with UK grime artist Bossman Birdie at Depop HQ, to talk music and Fashion.
Bossman Birdie started making grime music in the early 2000’s, in a collective with some of the biggest names in the business such as Skepta, Jme and Big H.
Growing up in North London, Bossman was influenced by both fashion and music. “Making music was a past time for us because we were rebellious teenagers,” says Bossman
In 2017, Bossman Birdie was nominated for Best Video at the MOBO awards for his track ‘Walk the Walk.’
“I’ve been focusing on Bossman Birdie for about a year and in that first year we’ve had recognition from an organisation like MOBO, it was so good to just be part of it,” he said.
As well as music, we also chatted to Bossman about his style and the brands he likes to wear. Stating that it doesn’t matter if the clothes are branded, as long as the fit is right. “You’ve got to wear the clothes, you can’t let the clothes wear you,” said Bossman Birdie.
During his youth, Bossman wore a lot of Stone Island, admitting that he had new jackets every season. The reason he got into Stone Island was to stand out and be different. Apart from Stone Island, Gucci and Louis Vuitton have played a huge part in Bossman Birdie’s style.
During our meet-up, we introduced Bossman to Nobis. Nobis is an outerwear brand co founded by Robin Yates, ex Vice President of Canada Goose. With outstanding fit, technological properties and clear attention to detail on the design, it’s safe to say Bossman Birdie was a fan of the white parka in particular.
A huge shout-out to Mainline Menswear for sending us the clothing, we hope you enjoyed the video.
