It’s somehow taken until now for Carhartt WIP and Palace, two of fashion’s most prolific collaborators, to finally join forces for a clothing collection that’s set to launch very soon.
Both labels have worked with a variety of different brands, from Gucci, Sacai, and even McDonald’s. It’s left us wondering, why did it take so long?
Taking a comical stance on the ‘real work’ that goes into crafting hardwearing clothes to do ‘real work’ in, the duo’s new marketing video highlights some of the standout products from the upcoming collection (seen below).
The main reason that it’s a shock both of these brands have taken so long to link up is the fact they share so many similarities. Both label’s share a focus on skate culture and clothing, possess a youthful demographic, and focus on a design philosophy of essential items such as jackets, hoodies, and workwear trousers.
It’s easy to argue that a Palace x Carhartt WIP collaboration should have occurred years ago. Nevertheless, as the saying goes, it’s better late than never.
As for what to expect, the collection includes a workwear “suit” that combines Carhartt‘s famous Michigan work coat and double knee trousers, adorned with Palace’s distinctive graphics. The wider collection will feature bib overalls, boxy shirts, hoodies, faded pocket tees, and knit beanies.
All of these items are offered in Carhartt‘s signature Hamilton brown hue, along with some earthy camouflage patterns that seamlessly blend the sensibilities of both brands.
Overall, the collection leans more towards Carhartt’s style than Palace‘s. This, of course, should not be taken as a criticism, as it’s entirely expected – these are, after all, Carhartt‘s signature garments, not Palace’s.
The anticipated Palace x Carhartt WIP capsule for Fall ’23 will stand as the concluding element of Palace‘s seasonal collection, officially launching on Palace’s website and in stores on Friday, 15 September.
