In celebration of 70 years since the very first Fred Perry Polo Shirt was unveiled, Fred Perry has teamed up with The Design Museum to create a new exhibition celebrating the 70-year legacy of Fred Perry.

in 1952, when Fred unveiled his first polo shirt, Fred Perry had no idea about the impact his brand was going to eventually have on the world.

Fred Perry has been well received and celebrated by countless subcultural groups and popular culture icons over the years since 1952. 

70 years on , Fred Perry: A British Icon opens at London’s Design Museum on June 10 to celebrate how Fred Perry and the polo shirt in particular – encapsulated identity in fashion.

The brands new exhibition will explore the beginnings of Fred Perry in 1950s Britain, through early prototypes and rare archival material. It will explore the intricacies of Fred Perry’s identity and learn how his legacy continues to influence the brand.

Politics and community will also be explored in depth as the exhibition will delve into Fred Perry‘s relationship with music including musicians Amy Winehouse, Sam Fender, and Gorillaz. 

The exhibition will be free for visitors and will take place in the Design Museum’s Huth Gallery from June 10 – June 19 2022.
