As EA begins to prepare us for the launch of EA SPORTS FC, the new name that’s set to replace the world’s biggest football video game FIFA – they’ve called upon one of the biggest UK rap sensations Dave, to hype us up for the launch.
The 24-year-old musical artist from South London sports a knitted Stone Island piece as he sits among the stands and narrates the short film while explaining the importance of “Triangles” in football.
Being a crucial element of the sport itself, EA SPORTS FC’s new brand identity also includes the three-sided shape on its cover and will probably stick to the triangle as a core element of the rebranded game.
The film doesn’t reveal many details regarding the new direction of the game, but rather it offers an understanding of how EA SPORTS may make the departing FIFA more relevant to the modern game than ever before.

Other than Dave, the short film also showcases the song ‘Rumble’ by Skrillex, Fred Again and Flowdan. As all FIFA players know, the FIFA soundtrack is a huge part of the game’s life cycle and the up-beat soundtrack from the film hints that this won’t change with FC.
The renaming of FIFA comes after a breakdown in negotiations between EA Sports and FIFA that resulted with the lose of the FIFA license.
The first in the FIFA franchise launched in 1993, under the name EA Soccer and eventually known as FIFA ’94. The current FIFA 23 is now set to be the last game in the series under the FIFA name and subsequently, the end of an era.
