With 11 games left to clinch their first Premier League title since 2004, Arsenal reasserted their London authority with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage. What many won’t realise is that Arsenal set two new Premier League records that no one else has ever achieved.
Arsenal went five points clear of rivals Manchester City at the top of the table on Saturday (March 11) with goals from Gabriel, Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard and a hattrick of assists from the new January signing, Leandro Trossard.
The first of the two new records set by the Gunners comes from the former Brighton superstar Trossard. The Belgian’s hattrick of assists was the first time a player in Premier League history has registered three assists in the first half of an away game. Not too shabby for a £27 million signing?
No Arsenal player has registered three assists in a singular game since Cesc Fabregas did in October 2009 during a 6-2 win over Blackburn.
Aside from achieving their third five-game winning streak of the 2022-23 Premier League season, the victory over Fulham also saw Arteta’s squad become the first team in the entire 134 years of English Football League history to win five consecutive London derbies away from home and without conceding a single goal.
