On Tuesday 4 October, AC Milan made their way to London for their UEFA Champions League match against Chelsea and the team strutted around in brand new fits, courtesy of no other than Virgil Abloh’s Off-White™.
The team boasted a pre-pitch fit of the AC Milan x Off-White™ varsity jackets in cream – confirming Off-White™ and AC Milan’s new partnership where the luxury streetwear label is now the Italian team’s Style and Culture Curator.
If the jackets weren’t enough evidence, then surely the AC Milan team bus with oversized Off-White™ and AC Milan branding along the paintwork is enough.
The varsity jackets are just the beginning for this new partnership as Off-White™ is set to style the AC Milan men’s and women’s teams during match days.
AC Milan and Off-White™ have also teased new team suits with embroidered red patches and sleeves that read “I support sport for change.” This is a nod to the partnerships new motto: “WEAR YOUR HEART ON YOUR SLEEVE” – encouraging all football fans and players to be vocal in their own ideals and change.
We all expected this partnership to span further than fashion and it’s believed that the duo will also host charitable projects and show strong support for community initiatives, such as AC Milan’s foundation Fondazione Milan.
This is possibly the most exciting Football x Fashion partnership we’ve seen in the modern game and whatever the pair have lined up next for moving forward, I’ll personally be itching to see what it is.
