Following a restock of the viral Big Red Boots from the art and media collective MSCHF that put the internet in a frenzy since debuting at New York Fashion Week in February, an upcoming similar pair has been announced in collaboration with a brand that’s all-too-familiar to the foam footwear world.
Unveiled by Estonian musician Tommy Cash at Paris Fashion Week last week, Cash can be seen sporting a Crocs-branded version of the original boots, only this time they’re perforated and in a bright yellow hue.
Manufactured by MSCHF and not available for purchase just yet, the only noticeable features of the latest iteration of the statement-making boots is the Crocs-logo on the usual ankle strap and the perforated design Crocs have adopted over the years.
Considering Crocs helped to basically introduce the foam footwear trend, if any brand was going to try and get in on the action the Big Red Boots created, It was always going to be Crocs.
The Big Red Boots became something of a staple piece amongst celebrities such as Diplo, Rich the Kid, Lil Wayne, and Coi Leray, but how well the boots will age is another debate.
A member of The Hoxton Trend’s community purchased the MSCHF Big Red Boots recently during its restock for £500 and you can take a closer look at our in depth debate about the boots right here.
As well as the label’s LV-inspired microscopic handbag that measures as 657 by 222 by 700 micrometers (seen above) – these are only some of the latest in a series of attention-grabbing items from MSCHF.
Some online users are labelling MSCHF’s motivations as a commentary on capitalism and consumerism, while the majority of others think the label simply just enjoys going viral – something MSCHF seems to be good at.
