Samuel Ross’ London-based A-COLD-WALL* has once again provided its architectural and minimalist design codes to Nike, this time reworking the famous Aix Max Plus in two earthy colourways of “Stone” and “Onyx.”
Originally launched in 1998, the new Nike x A-COLD-WALL* Air Max Plus trainers features what A-COLD-WALL* calls a “thermo-molded exoskeleton” atop full grain leather uppers and translucent panels – rather than mesh.
With Ross’ fascination of the wear and tear of city life in mind, the collaborative Air Max Plus are intentionally designed to naturally weather over time, a unique detail that’s rarely seen.
The first of the monochromatic colourways is the “Stone” colourway that arrives in platinum tint, light bone & black stones hues.
Classic Nike Swoosh motifs can be found on the sidewall, surrounded by a unique cut-out square detail. rounding off the design, A-COLD-WALL* shoutouts feature on the Nike Air Max Plus badge on the tongue tabs and at the lower heels.
Secondly, the Nike x A-COLD-WALL* Air Max Plus in “Onyx” has been decked out in the darker shades of black, iron ore and obsidian, offering two contrasting silhouettes with plenty of tiny details to spot.
