A Close Up Look At The New BAPE x Coach Collaboration

Leading Japanese streetwear label, A Bathing Ape, have teamed up with the designer American leather goods brand, Coach, to create a unique and innovative collaboration, which blends the finest of contemporary urban fashion with a sophisticated and authentic designer house. The two brands have come together to merge the distinct aesthetics of their own hometowns – Tokyo and New York, creating a bold, exciting capsule.

The Coach x BAPE collection includes a huge variety of pieces, ranging from outerwear to accessories including luxury leather goods and sneakers. The eccentric must haves of this new range include the Coach x BAPE Down Puffer Jacket which is available in Coach’s signature brown hue. The jacket is emblazoned with their redesigned classic monogram ‘C’ print, which is fused together with the iconic APE head logo. Bringing back the classic BAPESTA sneaker, which celebrates its 20th birthday this year, this collaboration sees the silhouette looking slicker and more sophisticated than ever before. Available in the Coach x BAPE brown monogram print and the Coach x BAPE black monogram print, this sneaker is not one to be slept on – a staple pick up for any sneaker heads’ collection.

The line also features various styles of bags including backpacks, wallets and side bags which are again designed with the collaborative monogram print. Backpacks in Coach’s archetypal ‘Academy’ silhouette will be available in shades of brown or green which represent each of the brands core identities, whilst a third option features of a more playful rainbow monogram print. Bum bags, which have become an essential to urban streetwear styling over the past few years, are also available in the signature green and brown colourways, whilst various styles of purses and wallets come in all three variations. 

Perfect for on the go, the stylish Coach x BAPE tote bag is available in the earthy green monogram and the contrasting rainbow monogram print. Each tote features the signature BAPE logo and print motif, which has been redesigned especially for this project, finished with accents of brown leather across the edge of each handle. Two snapback caps feature in the collection in brown or black. Each colourway has a different design of branding on the front, catering for different style aesthetics making them versatile essentials. 

Alongside the line of accessories, t-shirts will be available in a variety of regionally exclusive, vibrant colourways in New York, Tokyo, Paris and London stores. A more muted option of t-shirts is also available – there’s something for everyone in this collection. The traditional Coach logo has been redesigned to incorporate and capture the essence of the Japanese label into a lively print which features on the chest of two black and white tees. Sweatshirts and hoodies are adorned with different variations of Coach x BAPE branding, including the signature BAPE shark detailing upon the hood. Variations of a hooded parka, perfect for the stormy weather, are available in brown and a black colourway which also features a stealthy recast of the shark head motif.

The campaign for the new collaboration has been spotted on Michael B Jordan, who flexes one of the new parka jackets and the brown monogram rucksack, both of which feature in the upcoming collection. The full lookbook for the collab’ has been shot in different locations representing the home of each of the designer labels.
