Your WFH Footwear Just Turned Even More Functional With Beams x Crocs SS20

As the hotter weather is beginning to draw over the UK, many of us are undoubtedly digging out our summer attire from the deep depths of our wardrobe. But what about our footwear?

As the majority of us are now working from home, it’s easy to get into the routine of slapping on the same shorts and t-shirt combo day in, day out. This probably means you’re wearing the same old slippers or sliders too (if you’re wearing anything on your feet at all, at this point), right?. However, the new Beams x Crocs collaboration for SS20 is the perfect addition to your working from home wardrobe, adding a little extra edge to your isolation ‘fits.

Beams is a Japanese brand which was founded in 1976 in the Harajuku district of Tokyo – one renowned for its innovative, high fashion and heavy streetwear influences. Since launching, the brand has expanded globally from Japan, to having stores in Paris, London, New York and Milan. The brand is known for its contemporary style in men’s fashion and its unique collaborations with brands such as Needles, Birkenstock and Fred Perry.

Following last years collaboration, which consisted of vivid colour palettes and bold looking silhouettes, the two labels are back to reinvent two more futuristic editions of the classic croc. Their previous collection was first released in April 2019, and featured four varieties of classic clog silhouettes, alongside a fifth pair of sandals which were all influenced by design elements of classic festival goer attire – the sun visor, the festival fringe and the fanny pack.

The Beams x Crocs SS20 collection consists of two utilitarian looking silhouettes which are remodelled from the classic croc shoe. Hailing on muted, earthy tones and functionally forward detailing, these crocs are inherit the best elements of the contemporary military style.

First up is the ‘Fishermans Vest’ shoes which are available in a beige/khaki green colourway and a monochrome grey colourway. With influences from classic cargo styles, this shoe is covered in utility driven detailing including D-rings, mesh panels on the upper of the shoe, and oversized straps for extra durability and security. The innovative design also features a ripstop pocket on the upper of the shoe. These slip-on shoes boast orange or tan coloured tabs on each strap, with subtle branding of the Beams and Crocs logos to finish.

The second silhouette within this new spring/summer collaboration features heavy cobra buckle detailing. The ‘Cobra Buckle’ sandals’ main feature is inspired by a classic accessory design which is commonly seen on belts and bags to secure them in place. However, on this shoe, the buckle sits upwards over the toes, which fastens at the top and is held in place with a D ring fastening at the tip of the toe. This silhouette will be available in two colourways of khaki and black, which are also detailed with subtle, monochrome branding to represent both the Beams and Crocs labels.
The Drop Date for this collaboration isn’t yet confirmed but will be some time around late April. You can pre-order the shoes at the BEAMS website, however stockists for the release also haven’t yet been confirmed.
