You probably know by now that we’re a big fan of the Jordan brand here at The Hoxton Trend, so we’re delighted to bring you news of a new Jordan collaboration. Jordan will be collaborating with Los Angeles based brand Union to bring you a collection of sneakers and apparel.
Union was founded in 1989 as a store on Spring Street in SoHo, New York City and was designed to be a place to showcase the fashion side of youth culture in the area. A store in LA followed soon after, when one of the owners relocated there. To this day, Union continue to embody the same spirit in which they were founded and brings customers a curated selection of designers and brands from across the globe. A ‘straight-up’ kind of brand, according to their website, “Union’s concept is simple (and we have stuck with it since day one): buy brands that we will wear ourselves and clothes that walk the line between fashion and function, avoiding the ‘costumey’ side of fashion by offering classics with a twist.”
One of the most anticipated pieces from this up and coming partnership are the Jordan 4 sneakers, set to be released in colourways ‘Guava’ and ‘Off-noir’. The Jordan 4s make up just half of the four piece sneaker capsule being released in this collab; the Air Jordan Delta Mid and Air Jordan Zoom ’92 are also set to feature in new colourways. The sneakers are guaranteed to be a hit after the first Union X Jordan collab in 2018 that saw the Jordan 1s receive a Union makeover and now re-sell at over $1000.
The concept behind this collaboration is that it’s ‘the next chapter’ between these two brands and their ongoing partnership. There’s a distinct aesthetic to the apparel in this collection that carries a retro-vintage vibe; shirts mimic that of a mechanic’s uniform and the ‘Coaches jacket’ offers an old-school look. Union have been innovating hard for this release and as a result, have come up with what they call “spacer knit”. The Coaches Jacket is constructed from Spacer Knit; a ‘two-faced’ fabric featuring a double-knit warp spacer poly/elastane technical knit face and a brushed interior backing. Alongside black and white pieces, you can expect to find washed navy and salmon pink in the colour palette of this collection.
