Considered the most influential voice in streetwear, Supreme has unveiled its next major collaboration for Spring 2023 and its none other than an expansive range of outerwear from frequent collaborator, The North Face.
Centered around a trick eye effect, the new collaborative collection introduces some of The North Face‘s classic silhouettes with a colourful, trompe l’oeil print, resulting in an optical illusion-type of design.Â
Trompe l’oeil translates from French to ‘optical illusion’ and refers to a highly realistic optical illusion in paintings. The term was first used by French painter Louis-Léopold Boilly when he gave one of his paintings the title in 1800.
Leading the line is the Taped Seam Shell Jacket, Nuptse Jacket, Mountain Pant, Montana Mitt, Borealis Backpack – all decorated with a trompe l’oeil design in a variety of bright and bold colours.
Accompanying the trompe l’oeil printed design is a selection of steet-ready essentials such as hooded sweatshirts, tracksuit bottoms, fleeces, shorts, T-shirts, and fleece beanies.Â
The entire collection boasts a dual-branding of the classic Supreme Box logo placed underneath The North Face’s stylized drawing of Half Dome, in Yosemite National Park.
Water-resistant recycled poly shell has been used for the Taped Seam Shell Jacket and Mountain Pants, while the Nuptse Jacket has been crafted with water-resistant, breathable poly ripstop, 700-Fill down insulated interior, and of course a striking trompe l’oeil print.Â
The Supreme x The North Face Spring 2023 collaboration is scheduled for a global release from the Supreme website on Thursday, March 9 at 11:00 am.
