Stüssy and Nike have teamed up for the second time to release an apparel collection and footwear. The duo recently released a ‘working from home’ collection inspired by the global lockdown; however, this collection is less about staying indoors and more about heading to the beach. The collection dubbed ‘Chapter 2’ will launch Friday 24th July at Stussy.com and select retailers.
‘Chapter 2’ centres around their brand-new Air Zoom Kukini sneaker which will be released in two colourways. The sneaker is lace less so easy to slip on and off and it takes inspiration from the Nike Air Kukini and Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2, the latter of which Stüssy and Nike worked on earlier this year. The Air Zoom Kukini will be arriving in a ‘Black/Bright Cactus’ colourway and ‘White/Habanero Red’ colourway.
Sticking with the neon trend, both colourways have a bright accent colour. The Black/Bright Cactus colourway is styled with a black mesh upper and no laces, yet the wearer’s foot will be secure inside the trainer due to the web-like cage throughout. A vibrant lime green peeps through on the sock liner. The White/Habanero Red colourway has a clean white upper with a contrasting red sock liner, the shoe is constructed out of a perforated jersey style fabric. Both trainers feature a responsive Air Zoom cushioning in the heel to ensure extra comfort. With the iconic Stüssy script logo on the tongue, and the instantly recognisable Nike logo on the heel this is a constant reminder of the collaborate efforts between the two brands. Alongside the trainers, Stüssy and Nike are bringing out a version of Nike’s signature Benassi slides.
The apparel collection will also be launching at the end of the week, with clothing including beach shorts, pants and a Windrunner jacker which has been updated with a ½ zip. The clothing is loose, comfortable and complimentary with the beach items being lightweight and quick to dry. And with a collection of graphic, retro inspired, vibrant t-shirts you have a fit ready for the summer. Everything is made with their customer in mind ensuring the clothing is wearable and laid-back. You will also be able to find classic Stüssy accessories such as a bucket hat which will be co-branded like the rest of the collection.
