Founded in 1988 in Paris, luxury fashion house Maison Margiela has differentiated itself by rejecting traditional marketing methods, the use of logos and adopting a neutral/plain image.

in 1997, the brand introduced a number reference that can be found on all products – a small graphic listing the numbers 0 to 23. While some believe the numbers are just the label, each number actually represents a collection to which the garment belongs to, and that said number is then circled.

Another distinguished element of Maison Margiela is their commitment to designing the majority of their most famous pieces in an all-white colour scheme. All Margiela labels are also characterised by a white removable label with four stiches at the corner.

Samsung has been putting the effort in with this collaboration as they’ve previewed the new Galaxy Z Flip phone in a smart white colour with pulp-paper texture and emblazoned with Maison Margiela‘s signature iconography. 

Through their Instagram account, Samsung also hinted that Maison Margiela‘s emblematic numeric coding and four stitches would all be key design features in the collaboration.
