Samsung have explored collaborations with some of the most popular contemporary names in the fashion industry and their newest collaboration with Maison Margiela for a brand new flip phone continues this trend.
Following a special edition flip phone with Thom Brown in 2020 and a Galaxy Watch collaboration with Maison Kitsuné in 2021 – Samsung are continuing their resurgence of the iconic flip phone as they’ve just announced a brand new Galaxy Z Flip 4 silhouette in collaboration with Maison Margiela.
Samsung have been dropping hints since mid-October where they’ve stated the new crossover will be “A beautiful juxtaposition of state-of-the-art technology and haute couture.”
Founded in 1988 in Paris, luxury fashion house Maison Margiela has differentiated itself by rejecting traditional marketing methods, the use of logos and adopting a neutral/plain image.
in 1997, the brand introduced a number reference that can be found on all products – a small graphic listing the numbers 0 to 23. While some believe the numbers are just the label, each number actually represents a collection to which the garment belongs to, and that said number is then circled.
Another distinguished element of Maison Margiela is their commitment to designing the majority of their most famous pieces in an all-white colour scheme. All Margiela labels are also characterised by a white removable label with four stiches at the corner.
Samsung has been putting the effort in with this collaboration as they’ve previewed the new Galaxy Z Flip phone in a smart white colour with pulp-paper texture and emblazoned with Maison Margiela‘s signature iconography.
The new Maison Margiela Samsung Galaxy Z Flip phone looks like it’ll be one of the coolest phones we’ve seen this year and if you’re a fan of the French fashion label, the collaboration will be one to watch out for.
