Nike have just unveiled the Jordan brand’s Spring 2022 collection. Called the Retro collection, it focuses on the full range of Jordan brand icons, with a couple of silhouettes – such as the Air Jordan 2’s – being left out. The collection places attention on the iconic silhouettes from Michael Jordan’s career. Before we get into what you can expect to find, head over to the Nike sale where you can get up to 40% off.
The styles include the return of the OG “Playoff” Air Jordan 12 to celebrate the model’s 25th anniversary, along with redesigns of popular Air Jordan retros. Other noteworthy models that are dropping are new iterations of the Air Jordan 1 High as well as the Air Jordan 3 and Air Jordan 4.
Looking at the ever-popular 1s, the OG ‘Royal’ has been flipped. The black and blue portions have been swapped creating a whole new colourway which Nike have called ‘Dark Marina Blue’. The Air Jordan 1’s also appears in a yellow, pink and white colourway.
“We don’t want to release these OG colorways randomly,” says Donald Kelsey, Jordan Brand Product Director, Global Retro Line. “It has to be tethered in some way to MJ’s story. Our team is serious about connecting the dots for when these OG models or colorways release. The diehard fans can see that we care about preserving history, while new fans are invited to dig into their curiosity and explore the reasons for timing. Why now? Why this shoe? Then the answers start flowing. We never launch a retro in isolation.”
