Nike have been rapidly releasing Air Jordan 1’s this year partly down to the success of their docuseries ‘The Last Dance’. As we enter summer, they continue to release new iterations of the beloved sneaker. Set to release 6th August is the Air Jordan 1 ‘Satin Snake’ which the colourway was inspired by the classic AJ1 Chicago.
These sneakers were originally revealed in April and announced as part of the Jordan Brand’s Fall 2020 collection, they have since been gathering hype due to the AJ1’s popularity right now. This colourway was originally released for women in 2019 with the ‘Satin Black Toe’ but due to the similarities with the AJ1 Chicago it only made sense to release a full size run for men. As the AJ1 Chicago’s are on the most in-demand AJ1’s ever and only available on Stockx for £800, the Satin Snakes are the next best thing. With the two sneakers being nearly identical, the only difference lies in the materials used.
Much more luxurious materials are used on the AJ1 Satin Snake, as satin and faux snakeskin panels cover the shoe making them more textured to other AJ1’s. The shoe has red satin throats and red sock liners to match. With black faux snakeskin swoosh logos on both the lateral and medial sides and black heels. Red and white leathers finish off the uppers with a white midsole keeping the sneakers looking retro, and a black outsole to tie it all together. The faux snakeskin definitely stands out and is the main difference to the AJ1 Chicago’s, however it adds texture to your outfit and enhances the shoe. Snakeskin is a trend that has been around for years and so these shoes will also be very on trend. It seems that these sneakers will be just as in demand as everything that has come before, and if not, they will be more popular.
Make sure to keep your eyes out for the Jordan Fall 2020 Collection that is being released throughout the year, it includes 4 takes on the AJ1 as well as 2 versions of the Air Jordan 3 and finally the “Lucky Green” Air Jordan 13 and the “Hyper Royal” Air Jordan 14.
