Louis Vuitton‘s new partnership with Dover Street Market Ginza will see a selection of pieces from Virgil Abloh’s tenure at Louis Vuitton go on sale from Saturday 29 October – Tuesday 15 November.
The event will take place at Dover Street Market’s Tokyo location where eight ensembles will be on sale and a selection of custom and archival designs will also be on view.
Narrowing down Abloh’s portfolio to only eight ensembles sounds like a headache worthy task. It’s unclear which specific runway looks and standalone garments will be making an appearance, but we know that all of the chosen pieces will be from during Abloh’s time at Louis Vuitton – narrowing it down to many iconic moments.
Some potential items we think may make an appearance include the LV x Nike Ultra-Luxe Air Force 1s, the light-up LV Keepall bag and the sweatshirt covered in stuffed puppets from the SS21 collection (found above).
There’s no doubt that whichever pieces do make the final cut, will eventually end up selling for an outrageous price. To make a comparison, pairs of the Abloh-designed Nike Air Force 1s, one of his last projects, auctioned at Sotheby’s for around £100,000 back in February.
Since then, time and time again we’ve seen that Abloh’s legacy and work continues to live on through his family, fans, and the industry which he impacted so much.
