Luxury Japanese brand Kenzo has made a move into the athleisure market by launching their first sportswear line, appropriately named Kenzo Sport. Despite the ‘athleisure wear’ trend having been around for a while now, the popularity of the casual, sport inspired wardrobe isn’t going anywhere and has in fact been bolstered by the Coronavirus pandemic. The change in lifestyles many are now experience means that Kenzo’s Sport range couldn’t have come at a better time.

Kenzo have dabbled in the realms of athleisure before (I’m sure we’ve all seen the signature tiger sweatshirt) but this will be their first range to focus on technical fabrics, designed to support athletic performance and physical activity.

Designed by newly appointed Creative Director, Felipe Oliveira Baptista, the Kenzo Sport range “offers a wardrobe with a strong graphic design, where technical materials are worked to combine elegance and comfort.” The collection includes both masculine and feminine pieces however the neutral colour palettes and simplistic designs give most pieces a gender-neutral fluidity. Black, white, ‘reed’, red and green are the key colours the collection is built on and many items such as the t shirts and hoodies are available in multiple colourways.

The branding for Kenzo Sport offers a twist on the regular logo and is a pivotal feature across the collection. The ‘X’ formed of two interlocking Kenzo logos appears in varying sizes on different garments. The ‘Triple X’ hoodies feature two small-scale logos on the chest and a larger, blown-up logo on the back. Despite being a predominantly athletic-wear release, there are also some polo shirts in the collection if you’re looking for something slightly smarter, the still offers you an athletic edge; the perfect piece for your ‘WFH’ wardrobe if you ask me.

All of the pieces are currently available to buy online at Kenzo.com or you can shop the collection right here.
