Kanye West continues to be one of the biggest icons in streetwear fashion. Because of this, people love his Adidas Yeezy brand and every one of his sneakers are widely sought after. This time, Kanye has infiltrated the basketball market and the Yeezy Quantum’s in the ‘Barium’ colourway are dropping on June 25th. Although, regardless of their large price tag of £200, these sneakers are sure to sell out.

These Yeezy’s have been on the radar of many Kanye and Yeezy fans as the shoes first details were released in early 2020 with a full look at the shoe in March. The silhouette made its first debut in February during the NBA All-Star Weekend which took place in Chicago – Kanye’s hometown. As this is Kanye’s first venture into the Basketball market this shoe will definitely be one for the history books. For the first time the Yeezy brand will be in competition with Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan brand which has dominated the basketball shoe market since its introduction in 1985. The Yeezy Quantum will be going head to head with the likes of the Air Jordan 1 on the basketball courts.

Although the sneaker originally debuted as a performance shoe to be worn on the court, this release will be the lifestyle model only. Although it is clear to see that Kanye West is attempting to grow his footwear empire by designing performance and athletic sneakers.

Taking inspiration from the Yeezy Boost 700 silhouette the Quantum has a similar u-shaped lacing system and neoprene tongue. A striped overlay sits on both the lateral and medial sides and a full-length Boost midsole is present that is blacked out, similar to the Boost 380. The Barium colouring means the shoe has a dark grey and olive green prime knit upper tied together with a black suede toecap. At the back of the shoe there is a 3M infused heel counter which ensures you have support and stability on both the streets and the basketball court.

And if you’re wondering how Kanye comes up with the names of his sneakers, then the name of this colourway comes from the periodic table as ‘Barium’ is a metal and a chemical element from the alkaline earth group. The name definitely has indications of the colouring as the dark green on the sneaker is quite earthy whilst the grey indicates a metal.

These iconic Yeezy’s will be available at Adidas and Yeezy Supply so make sure to set your alarms for the 25th so that you don’t miss out!
