February Focus: Stone Island Ghost Piece Sweatshirt

February Focus: Stone Island Ghost Piece Sweatshirt

By Rachel Tooley | February 4, 2020

Our February Focus feature will be a series of articles spread over the coming month, introducing you to some of the most stylish must-haves of the SS20 season. We’re kickstarting the series with a piece chosen from the new Stone Island SS20 ‘Icon Imagery’ collection. The ‘Icon Imagery’ collection features a variety of stand out shades including coral, neon yellow and pastel purple, alongside their classic neutral shades of khaki green, black and navy. As the transition to the spring season approaches, we see new, cooler silhouettes highlight this collection, which includes short sleeve shirts, shorts, t-shirts and lightweight jackets such as overshirts, blouson jackets and puffers.

‘Icon Imagery’ also features a range of Ghost pieces, each holding their own monochromatic aesthetic, such as the Ghost Piece Military Sleeveless Jacket in ‘Military Green’ and the Ghost Piece Overshirt in ‘Natural’. The Ghost collection is a really interesting concept inspired by the idea of camouflage, each garment blends into itself and has a badge to match the exact colour of the piece. Our focus this week is on the Stone Island Ghost Piece Sweatshirt in ‘Natural’ which is part of the new SS20 collection.

The Ghost Piece Sweatshirt in ‘Natural White’ features the classic monochrome Ghost Stone Island badge on the left sleeve, in a denuded colour to match the all-white aesthetic of the jumper. The sweatshirt features the classic ribbed, elasticated collar, cuffs and hems for extra comfort and stretch. Raglan sleeves give the piece an interesting seam detail, as the shaping of the stitch meets the elbows, creating a v-shape on the inside of the arm, compared to the straight seam style of a regular Stone Island sweatshirt. A very simple yet stylish piece, it’s perfect for someone with a minimal style or anyone who wants to add something more unusual yet comfortable to their wardrobe.

Dressed up or down, this sweatshirt is a really versatile option that can bode well with a variety of colours and textures to complete an outfit.

Pair the sweatshirt with a pair of washed out jeans, such as the Martine Rose Straight Leg Jeans in ‘Acid Green’ (£496 at Slam Jam Socialism) for a bold and edgy look. Complete the outfit with a pair of Jordan Mars 270 sneakers in ‘Vast Grey/White’ (£158 at Slam Jam Socialism), a hybrid between the classic Jordan high top silhouette and the Air Max 270 design with Nike’s signature air cushioning technology. These shoes feature a pop of colour with hints of vivid orange detail, adding a new dynamic to a comfortable outfit with its leather upper, mesh overlays and 3M Swoosh branding.

Brave the full monochrome look and pair the sweatshirt with matching trousers, or shorts when the summer months hit. The Stone Island Ghost Piece Cargo Pants in ‘Natural White’ (£325 at Slam Jam Socialism) feature similar detailing as the sweatshirt, with the Ghost logo patch and innovative seam structures. This 6-pocket design means you can keep your belongings close by, with a variety of open pockets and button up pockets for easy practicality. The elastic drawstring waist proves an extra comfort and movement with a hidden zip fly fastening. Shorts (£285 at Slam Jam Socialism) are also available which are of the same garment-dyed design, with an above the knee length hem, in a fleece fabric perfect for lounging around in. Subtle slit in pockets sit at each side of the shorts, and lower down the thigh is an envelope style pocket with a button fastening, finished with the infamous logo patch on the left side.
