February Focus: Kenzo SS20 At Repertoire Fashion

New collections at Repertoire Fashion have dropped just in time to give your spring wardrobe a spruce up. Featuring a range of brands including Axel Arigato, Billionaire Boys Club, Neil Barrett, Veja and Polo Ralph Lauren, you’re sure to find something at Repertoire to suit your style preference. Repertoire Fashion are a great option for anyone seeking premium, contemporary menswear brands such as Stone Island, Versace, Mackage, and CP Company.

This week we’ve chosen a new piece from the iconic French fashion house, Kenzo. Originally founded in 1970 by Japanese fashion designer Kenzo Takada, who was known for utilising his Asian influences to create a fusion of European and Japanese aesthetics. After studying at Bunko Fashion College in Tokyo, Takada progressed his career by moving to Paris where he opened up his first boutique. A decade after the initial launch of the brand, Kenzo saw its first menswear collection debut in 1980. Since its launch, the brand has developed to becoming one of the leading labels in luxury fashion, encompassing its very own name outside the fashion industry also developing as a lifestyle brand. The brand extended into the fragrance industry as Kenzo Parfums in 1987, and following its success, the skincare industry as Kenzoki during 2001.

A highlighting piece of their newest collection is the Kenzo Tiger Claw knit sweater in the colour ‘Off White’, which is available at Repertoire Fashion for £415. The classic crewneck style has been given a redesign with bold, eccentric graphics. Featuring the signature tiger motif in the centre of the chest, which has been given a revamp with added outlines of the tigers’ body and claws, which sit on the front and back of the jumper. The tiger mascot, which was designed and created by former creative directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, is knitted and layered with graphic, chunky textures and the Kenzo spell-out logo to add a more controlled chaos to this otherwise simple silhouette. Details extend out into the dropped shoulder, creating a looser, casual sleeve with a vivid texture. Both the collar, cuffs and hem of the jumper are finished with a traditional ribbed knit. The knitted designs on this print give it an interesting, fierce edge whilst being bold and bright. The lighter, colder colourway is versatile and easy to style. You can try layering this piece with a gilet or a parka jacket to keep cosy and warm, or put a shirt underneath to create a sharper, slicker look over the rounded grandad style collar.

Go casual and pair this jumper up with a pair of black or blue jeans, such as these Armani J45 Stretch jeans, £129, new in at Repertoire Fashion – denim is a great way to add variation of texture and fabric to break up an outfit that consists of similar tones. A lighter colour sneaker is perfect choice to coordinate and complete the look; a great option, which is also new in at Repertoire this season, is the Axel Arigato Dunk Leather trainer, available for £160. These sneakers are a great, minimal addition to your wardrobe which look casual yet sophisticated, nailing that day to night transition that can be difficult to tackle. If you’re looking for a more formal look, why not try the Genius suit trousers from BOSS in navy blue, also at Repertoire Fashion for £139.
