From collaborations with Jordan, Denim Tears and the more recent 2022 collaboration with Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack brand, Dior‘s long list of collaborators has left me thinking who won’t they link up with?
First debuted in Dior‘s summer 2023 menswear collection, Dior has now officially released images of their latest collaboration with a label you probably would of never had guessed in a hundred attempts – Mystery Ranch.
Based in Montana, Mystery Ranch have a reputation for crafting the best load-bearing equipment in the world. Using expert materials and durable construction methods, the brands everyday line consists of a variety of bags, split into categories such as “Military,” “Outdoor,” “Hunting” and many more.
Over in the States, Mystery Ranch have built a loyal following through their no-nonsense backpacks that are admired by everyone from Navy SEALS, firefighters and hikers.
Mystery Ranch don’t tend to collaborate much with fashion houses, although they had previously worked with COMME des GARÇONS to collaborate on a couple backpacks for spring/summer 2021.
Consisting of three styles of bags, a belt, and wallets – the new collaboration appears to be a genuinely organic linkup of both brands’ cues and feels different from most of Dior‘s previous collaborations.Â
With prices starting from £470, the collection features the Gallagator backpack, Saddle Bag, a belt bag, tactical belt, and zippered wallets, all offered in shades of beige and black.Â
Some hidden functional details include the use of technical nylon jacquard, magnetic buckles, and waterproof upcycled CORDURA re/cor.Â
I’m sure Dior are more than capable of designing their own luxury bag and accessory collection, but the fact that Dior and creative director Kim Jones, perused a collaboration with Mystery Ranch proves that they value authenticity.Â
Collaborations occur more often than not these days, but Dior x Mystery Ranch and their collection of technical luxury accessories, for me, is a special collaboration and one I’d be interested in wearing myself.
