British rapper Kojo Funds is back with a new single ‘Vanessa’ which was released 11th June. Its release has been long-awaited by fans as the last track that he was a part of was released in 2019. ‘Vanessa’ is being welcomed by fans as it’s the summer anthem we have all been waiting for.

Kojo Funds is an influential artist in the UK scene collaborating with the likes of WizKid, Giggs, Raye and many more. He is loved by many however he has kept fans waiting for new music. Kojo is yet to follow up his debut mixtape ‘Golden Boy’ which dropped in 2018. Will ‘Vanessa’ feature on his next album? And if yes, is the summer track an indication of what we can expect? The previous album included popular singles like ‘Dun Talkin’ and ‘Abra Cadabra’ so fans have been eager to see what new tracks Kojo can produce.

The tempo is upbeat, and he continues with his afrobeats style that he has become known for. Over the top we hear his clever lyrics with his distinctive melodic flow. The music video currently has over 290,000 views but this is sure to rise as Kojo Funds has previously had huge singles like “Stallin” (2.2 million views) and “My 9ine” (14.4 million views).

The video is definitely one to watch as alongside the clever camera work the video has been edited with a purple hue. The display shots of Kojo in a scenic park look different to what we’re used to seeing in a video like this, as the trees are all bright purple. It’s a clever, sleek way to edit the visuals and these shots alongside the scenes of East London where Kojo is seen serenading ‘Vanessa’ work really well together.

Kojo Funds is due to release more music this year but until then watch the music video here.
