Incorporating elements from the 990 and 860 series, the New Balance 9060 trainers are one of the Boston brand’s most unique pair of trainers and Bodega’s aquatic take on the silhouette are a real eye-catcher.
With over a hundred years of heritage behind them, New Balance drew inspiration from the 990 series and the high-speed 2000s running shoes such as the 860v2, when designing the 9060 silhouette.
The 9060 tackled the difficult task of pleasing both the OG New Balance customers and the next generation who are fairly new to the New Balance hype.
Commonly known as New Balance‘s most innovative silhouette yet, the 9060 boasts a chunky sole and has been given a stunning rework from Bodega – who have been curating fine apparel, accessories and footwear from over 100 brands sinch 2006.
Bodega describe the New Balance 9060 as a “departure from the archive, into uncharted territories.” With this in mind, the new trainers have been titled “Age of Discovery,” named after the period of when Europeans set out to explore and settle in new parts of the world, including areas that have already been claimed.
Bodega reworked the 9060 silhouette with an earthy palette of aquatic blues and hints of tan, purple and yellow. Bodega are known for their aquatic shades and they demonstrate their expertise on the new 9060.Â
The collaborative trainers are finished off with hairy and smooth suede details along the upper, with holy mesh underlays, further elevating the 9060’s textural story.Â
The Bodega x New Balance 9060 trainers are set to release on Saturday 10 December at Bodega and Thursday 15 December at New Balance.
