Ben and Jerrys have created something special and particularly unconventional for sneaker fans this summer. Their collaboration with Nike SB has allowed them to create a very bright and amusing sneaker. The Sb Dunk lows named after an ice cream flavour, are being released 23rd May. The sneakers will be available at selected Nike SB retailers, and dropping on Nike SNKRS on 26th May, this iconic sneaker will cost £120 and be in limited supply.
Nike SB was founded in 2002 as an attempt by Nike to enter the skateboarding market. The shoes were designed specifically with skateboarders in mind. The SB dunk low was the first shoe they introduced; it was originally a basketball sneaker that they converted into a skate shoe. To do this they increased the padding, used enhanced materials and used a triple stitch which is essential for skate shoes. The SB brand has been a huge hit and the SB dunk low is one of Nikes more popular silhouettes, with it becoming increasingly sought after with the number of collaborations the past couple of years. After collaborating with Travis Scott, Comme Des Garcons and Supreme, this Ben and Jerrys collab will possibly be the most iconic.
The new sneaker called ‘Chunky Dunky’ has been named after one of Ben and Jerry’s most popular ice cream flavours, chunky monkey. The sneaker pays homage to the flavour with its colour scheme and patterns. The company may be known for producing high-quality ice-cream but having fun is at their core with their motto being “if it isn’t fun, why do it?”. This collaboration will be Ben and Jerry’s first venture into shoe designing but when they teased the shoe on Instagram it gained almost as much buzz as the recent Travis Scott X Nike collab.
