This week will see the second release of the collaboration between London menswear designer Craig Green and adidas Originals. The English designer has had a relatively short career thus far, yet has managed to achieve many great accolades, such as being named British Menswear designer at the Fashion Awards for three consecutive years and scooping the award for ‘Emerging Menswear Designer’ at the British Fashion Awards back in 2014. Described by Adidas as a “collaboration that celebrates form and experimentation in design”, the Craig Green Polta AKH I truly are a stand out shoe design.
Following the first collection which was released earlier this year, the shoe has a very distinct style and clever layering which form the foundation of this collaborative design. Green has layered two of Adidas’ classic silhouettes, the Boston Super and Samba, using a ‘ghost layering’ technique to create a hybrid trainer that’s iconic in its own right. The chunky Kamanda sole gives the shoe a bold aesthetic and contrasts the more detailed upper.
First seen at Green’s SS 2020 show back in June last year, the wait for this release has been greatly anticipated.
The CG Polta AKH I will be available in three colourways, ‘brown/cream white’, ‘cream/white’ and ‘core black’. The choice of neutral colourways makes them a versatile shoe, great for any occasion. The unique design and thick Kamanda sole are eye catching, without drawing too much attention away from the rest of your outfit. Other design features of the shoes include a lace fastening, EVA midsole and a textile upper.
