There have been rumors about an Adidas x Gucci collaboration since December 2021 and we finally got our first real look at what the two, top of their field brands have been cooking up.

The first look at the collaboration came on February 26 during Milan fashion week, during Gucci’s presentation for their Fall/Winter collection. Before the presentation, all we had to satisfy our needs about their partnership was a Gucci Adidas monogram.

Rumors about the collaboration became facts during the show. Gucci’s glamorous retro aesthetic is the main vocal point of the presentation, while featuring Adidas’s iconic 3 stripe logo which is hard to miss. The new partnership presented an exciting collection to the world which featured caps, corsets, blazers, and footwear.

The well anticipated collaboration is likely to feature a collection of footwear and accessories as well as clothing. The classic Adidas Gazelles have been selected to be one of the main footwear models of this partnership. The Gazelles are to be reworked with velvets and fabrics such as leather and snakeskin, and of course the signature Gucci ‘GG’ combined with the Adidas logo. Athletic caps are also set to appear, highlighting the sportier side of the collection.

An Adidas and Gucci partnership is interesting considering the two brands are generally unalike in many ways. Gucci’s red-carpet gowns, suits, and wacky accessories is very different when compared to Adidas’s sport-driven activewear.

Like the previous Dior x Jordan collaboration, sport and luxury fashion collaborations aren’t exactly common, however every time it happens we can’t get enough of them. Adidas have previously collaborated with brands such as Prada, Rick Owens, Raf Simmons, and Yohji Yamamoto. Luxury brands clearly love a collaboration with the Three Stripes.

Gucci have also been partnering up with fellow luxury brands in recent times. It was only November 2021 when they collaborated with Balenciaga for their joint footwear – the Triple S, which was only available to buy worldwide for 2 weeks. Another notable Gucci collaboration was with The North Face, which first premiered in January 2021.

There are currently no exact details about when the collaboration will release, but you can expect more information soon which you can always find at The Hoxton Trend.
