Adidas have just released the official match ball for the semi-finals and final of the Qatar World Cup. Named “Al Hilm,” translating to “The Dream” in Arabic, the new match ball replaces the ball that’s been used in the tournament up until this point named “Al Rihla,” meaning “The Journey.”
Glimmering in shades of gold, the new Al Hilm ball is showcased in a textured gold base with red accents and discrete triangular patterns as it’s inspired by the deserts of Doha, the colour of the World Cup trophy and the patterns of the Qatar flag.
Crafted with environmentally friendly water-based inks and glues, the Al Hilm ball combines Speedshell panel technology, surface texturing and diamond debossing made for football’s biggest stage.Â
Adidas Football GM – Nick Craggs had this to say: “Al Hilm represent a beacon of light on the power of sport and football to bring the world together. Millions will tune in from almost every country around the globe, united by their passion for the game.”
You can take a closer look at the new Al Hilm and the previous Al Rihla World Cup balls just below. Available in a variety of sizes from the Adidas website.
