Records were broken and expensive wine was bought as a single bottle of 50 Cent’s Le Chemin du Roi champagne was sold for a whopping $325,000 USD at an international wine competition held annually in Houston, Texas.
The auction took place on February 26 at the 2023 Rodeo Uncorked! wine competition. The Houston event saw a bottle of 50’s award-winning French vintage Le Chemin du Roi champagne, awarded with this years Grand Champion Best of Show.
The bottle that won this years award was then reportedly auctioned off at a record-breaking $325,000 in a winning big by real estate firm J. Alan Kent Development.
The sold bottle of Le Chemin du Roi may have earned Grand Champion status and sold for a record-breaking bid ever paid for a singular bottle at the event, however, the NYC-born rapper dropped some serious bread himself.
Currently residing in Houston, 50 dropped $165,000 on a bottle of Bernhardt Winery’s Antiquity Chardonnay Reserve, which was produced in Bulgari in 2020 and was crowned 2023 Reserve Grand Champion at this year’s Rodeo Uncorked!
Last year, he also paid $125,000 for the 2022 Top Texas Wine – a 2017 bottle of red wine from Hye Meadow Winery.
This is the second time that 50’s prestigious bottle of bubbly has been honoured at the annual wine competition that takes place as part of Houston’s Livestock Show and Rodeo. Back in 2021, Le Chemin du Roi was crowned Reserve Grand Champion at the same Rodeo Uncorked! competition.
Aside from casually dropping six-figures on wine like its nothing, 50’s winning bottle of bubbly managed to beat 3,071 entries from 18 different countries to the prestigious award.
